At Soul Inn House, we are all about service and creating individual pieces to suit the vast spectrum of
minds and body shapes that walk through the door. We therefore place great emphasis on the design
process.

The first thing we do is discuss ideas, interests, styles, likes/dislikes, positioning and the overall look
that the client wants to achieve. We then take a number of steps to achieve their goal.

We encourage clients to bring in any ideas or styles they wish to pursue, this can be anything from
photos, pictures, and memorabilia, to pieces of jewellery, favourite past-times or images from books,
magazines or the internet. I will just mention here that we never replicate work protected by copyright
laws or other people’s tattoos.

An important aspect of designing for the body is the flow of the design to fit the body part to be tattooed, whether the design is large or small. We use tracing paper and sharpie
pens to get the desired shape and effect; we may also photograph the body part for reference. We then talk about the many other elements that come into designing a piece
such as colour, positive and negative space, depth and perspective, lines and edges, contrast and priority. Only then do we start to draw.

Over the period of drawing time, which can be anywhere from several days to several weeks, we will call the customer in for fittings and further consultations for any changes
to be made to the design. Once a final design is achieved and all aspects of the design are covered, we can start tattooing. Yay!

Bepanthen Antiseptic Cream or Paw Paw Salve (petroleum free) and plastic cling wrap is applied to the tattoo upon completion. This cover should remain for 24 hours.
During this 24-hour period remove the cling wrap once and have a hot shower. Use a non-perfumed soap and gently wash the tattoo, using your hands and soap only. Gently
pat dry the tattoo and re-apply a layer of Bepanthen or Paw Paw Salve and re-cover with plastic cling wrap for the remainder of the 24-hour period.

Repeat after 24 hours, and re-apply cream, no more cling wrap is needed. Always wash hands before touching tattoo or applying antiseptic cream. Apply antiseptic cream a
5 times daily for 2 weeks and once or twice a day for the third week while the skin is regenerating.

During the 3-week healing process;
DO NOT swim in chlorinated or salt water.
DO NOT soak in the bath, get wet in the shower only.
DO NOT use any soap on it after the washing period, during healing.
DO NOT expose your tattoo to dirt dust, grease etc.
DO NOT pick or scratch your tattoo.
DO NOT expose your tattoo to direct sunlight during healing process.
(Use complete block out when exposed to once tattoo is completely healed.)

If more information is required on aftercare, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Soul Inn House is a registered business under the Health Act for Skin Penetration. Standards and Procedures are followed using the Infectious Disease Regulations (2001)
and the Australian/New Zealand Standard 4185 (Practice: Skin Penetration). Soul Inn House fully adheres to strict processes in order to provide complete protection for our
clients and ourselves. All needles from tattoo and piercings are directly disposed of into sharps containers.

Ink containers, razors, tissues, gloves, aprons and any other materials are directly disposed of into biohazard bins and collected by a medical waste company. An autoclave
sterilizer is used for all new needles, tubes and body piercing equipment and a complete log is kept of everything that has been sterilized, just like at the dentist. We wear
protective clothes – gloves and aprons (masks when necessary) to protect us from exposure to pathogens.

We have a separate hand washing sink which is foot operated, adequate space, smooth non-porous surfaces, good lighting and ventilation, biohazard bins and sharps
containers, non slip sealed floors and directed workflows. All equipment is packaged in indicated autoclave pouches accordingly. The autoclave cycle is accompanied with a
detailed report, filled out by the operator. The autoclave is fully serviced in compliance with the Health Act and all autoclave packages are opened in front of the client.

We believe that the customer should be aware of the lengths that we go to to protect their health and that they should demand the same high standards wherever they may go
to get tattoos and piercings.

We hold the view that this knowledge is very important for everybody’s safety. Please feel free to ask us any further questions on Hygiene and Safety standards or on the more
intricate details of the procedures. We are more than happy to answer them.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: Yes, it can. Bony and less exposed areas usually hurt more than fleshy areas. A meal before getting tattooed helps give the endorphins energy to do their job as the body’s
natural pain killer.

Q: Do you do custom designs?
A: Yes. We design customized art to suit each person’s individual tastes and desires.

Q: Can I bring my own design?
A: You are more than welcome. If the design needs refining or changing, we will do so for you.

Q: Do you have designs I can choose from?
A: Yes we do. We don’t have walls plastered with flash designs, however we have design folios and some hand picked flash from some of our favourite artists.

Q: I want to get a tattoo, but don’t know what to get, what shall I do?
A: Set up a design consultation and bring in any ideas that you have. This can be written or images. This and a bit of a chat help us get inside your head and pull out and
evolve all those ideas floating around in there.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Design consultations are free. There is a $50 base fee for custom designs. Tattooing costs $120 - $180 per hour depending on the artist.

Q: Do you use needles only once?
A: Yes. All needles are single use and are disposed of after each tattoo. Ink containers, razors and safety barriers are also single use only.

Q: Are there any tattoos you won’t do?
A: Yes. We don’t do racist tattoos or gang names. We won’t tattoo your face and other work is at the artists’ discretion.

Q: How long after getting tattooed can I go in the sun or swim?
A: The sun really takes the vibrancy out of tattoos. Do not go out in the sun for at least 3 weeks, after this period, apply complete sun block. Keep out of chlorinated water for
at least 3 weeks, also during that period do not soak your tattoo in the bath, get wet in the shower only.

Body piercing has been practiced by people all over the world since ancient times. Nose and ear piercings are mentioned in the bible. In Genesis 24:22, Abraham’s servant
gave a nose ring and bracelets to Rebekah, wife of his son, Isaac. Nose piercing has been common in India since the 16th century. Tongue piercing was popular with the elite
of Aztec and Maya civilizations. Ancient Mesoamericans wore jewellery in their ears, noses and lips, and such decorations continue to be popular amongst indigenous people.

In modern times, some people practice body piercing for religious or cultural reasons, however many individuals, particularly in the western world adorn themselves with body
piercings for spiritual, ornamental or sexual reasons.

We do not use piercing guns. Our single-use needles are disposed of immediately after use into sharps containers. Our piercing jewellery is of the highest quality and is
individually packaged and autoclaved. See the Hygiene and Safety page in the Tattoo section for more information, and do not hesitate to contact the clinic for more details.

A fresh piercing can be red, sore and sometimes swollen for several days to several weeks. During this period of healing time, care must be taken to avoid infection and to
allow the piercing to heal as quickly as possible. Touching, or, for genital and oral piercings, sexual activity is discouraged. Once the wound is allowed to heal, it forms a tunnel
of scar tissue called ‘fistula’. When it is fully healed, the initial jewellery may be changed or taken out for short periods of time.

Cleaning the piercing is very important and this must be done twice a day. Always wash your hands with an antibacterial soap first. Dissolved rock salt, sea salt or a medical
saline rinse is sufficient to clean and sterilize the area.

Do not use ‘ear care’, pure Dettol or tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide or Betadine on your piercing. These products can burn and blister sensitive skin. For tongue, lip, cheek
and labret (tongue) piercings it is recommended to mouth wash 4 times a day and after smoking. An antiseptic, non-alcoholic mouth wash such as Oral B or saline solution
is recommended. Kissing and oral sex are a no-no for at least 3 weeks after piercing, as are excessively spicy foods and alcohol. To speed up healing, we have a natural
aftercare product available at the clinic. It has been made up for us by an aromatherapist and has a base of aloe vera and contains no chemicals or preservatives.

For successful healing we recommend that you :
Contact us for an evaluation at any time, if needed.
Take multi vitamin, iron or zinc tablets.
Follow care instructions given to you.
Stop smoking for the healing period (or for ever!)

Please don’t :
Contact your fresh piercing with another person’s skin.
Touch piercings unless cleaning, which means washing hands prior.
Smoke or drink alcohol. (Oral piercings)
Contact your fresh piercing with cosmetics or perfumes.
Oral sex or genital intimacy. (Oral and genital piercings)
Swim in chlorinated or non-chlorinated water.

DO NOT consume drugs or alcohol within 24 hours of getting tattoo work (a good nights sleep is recommended).
Make sure you have eaten something substantial within 2 hours prior to getting tattooed.
NO alcohol is to be brought onto the premises.
DO NOT wax or shave the area prior to getting tattooed.
Area to be tattooed must not be sunburnt or peeling.
If you are suffering from a cold or flu we will not tattoo you. Please call AS SOON AS YOU GET SICK – not on the day of your appointment.
And finally, make sure you have celebrated your 18th birthday. If you look like you’re 12 years old remember to bring in your ID because we will ask you for it.
We hope you have a fabulous tattooing experience. Thanks. From all the staff at Soul Inn House.
